What is the CUMC Mission?

The mission of the church is to preach the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ (see Mark 16:15). We are also called to make disciples of all nations (see Matthew 28:19-20) as we seek to meet their physical and spiritual needs.

What is a Faith Promise?

A Faith Promise is not a pledge to Christ United Methodist Church, but rather it is a promise to God. At Christ UMC we have our regular pledge for the General Budget and Debt Retirement, but Faith Promise Missions goes beyond that. It is, first and foremost, an exercise in FAITH. You may not know at this time where your Faith promise will come from, but we will endeavor to trust God as we feel Him leading our giving to Missions.

Red Bird Missionary Conference is one of three missionary conferences in the United States.  It is located in Southeastern Kentucky and is the most comprehensive mission effort of The United Methodist Church in the United States in its outreach and services.  A missionary conference serves in an area where local resources cannot meet the needs; therefore support of the whole church is necessary.  The mission of the Red Bird Missionary Conference is to minister to the spiritual, physical, educational, and economic needs of people and to equip them to fulfill their God-given potential.

International Mission Work - Missionaries

Garth Cartledge (OMS International - Men for Missions International)

Garth serves as the associate director of the central region, working closely with the church relations department. He also gives office support to Men for Missions International.

Rhonda Fatum (OMS International - World Headquarters)

Rhonda works at the World Headquarters in a very important role for every OMS missionary. She helps missionary candidates with their fund-raising process and helping them get ready for their service on the field. She also serves as a strong help for missionaries who are coming home for furlough and need to strengthen their support account.

Dick McLeish (OMS International - Men for Missions International)

Dick works in the Men for Missions office in two distinct roles.  His primary role, very recently created, is Director of the Men for Missions International Prayer Department.  In this role, Dick works very closely with OMS as he helps to cover every area of the world with intercessors.  The goal of the Initiative is to have a Prayer Champion and many support intercessors for each country OMS works in.  Dick’s other role is to assist with all the short-term ministry teams Men for Mission International sends out all over the world.

Bill works as a Ministry Team Director for Men for Missions International preparing individuals and groups to travel and work overseas on short-term mission trips.
